Who is
Dirk Bikkembergs
Dirk Bikkembergs (born 2nd January 1959 in Bonn, Germany) is a Belgian fashion designer, internationally known for his innovative fusion of fashion and sportswear. Bikkembergs is one of the legendary Antwerp Six, a group of influential fashion designers who graduated in 1980 from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp fashion department and made their mark on the international fashion scene in the 80s. As a part of this iconic group, Bikkembergs’ unique path involves bringing sports elements to the catwalk.
Soon after his studies, he started his own label, which from the beginning featured his signature aesthetic fusing fashion and sportswear. He combined the dynamism of athletic clothing with a bold, stylish look, which was still a new concept within the fashion world at the time.
Bikkembergs’ designs are characterised by their robust, athletic appearance with a strong emphasis on masculine vigour and body language. He has created both ready-to-wear and sportswear lines for men, women, and children, and his work is loved by athletes and fashion enthusiasts worldwide.
