Description

en Stay or corset in rose-pink silk damask; trimmed with beige linen tape; whalebone (baleen); lining: natural-coloured linen with a woven red stripe; broad straight point at the front, peaks, front lacing (the lacing cord is 18th-century but not original to this stay). The entire garment is stitched with vertical channels containing boning. The upper front panels are rounded by means of a wide horizontal bone. From the waist extend separate tabs. All seams of the pattern pieces and all edges are finished with a narrow linen tape. Shoulder straps made of the same fabric are attached to the back panel; a narrow tape is attached to these and tied through eyelet holes in the front panels. The damask is laid out symmetrically.

nl Corset in rozerood zijdedamast; garnering met beige linnen band; walvisbalein; voering: naturelkleurig linnen, ingeweven streep in rood; brede rechte punt vooraan, heupflapjes, rijgsluiting voor (rijgveter wel 18de-eeuws, maar niet origineel bij dit corset). Geheel doorgestikt met verticale tunneltjes, waarin balein. Voorpanden boven rond door brede horizontale balein. Vanuit taille losse pandjes. Op alle naden van de patroondelen en langs alle randen een smal linnen bandje. Schouderbanden van de stof aan het rugpand, waaraan smal band, dat door nestelgaatjes in voorpanden wordt geknoopt. De damast is symmetrisch verwerkt.
