Discover the rich tapestry of Antwerp's textile history through the Melijn family archives. The Melijn family, esteemed textile merchants, documented their commercial trade during the 17th & 18th centuries through letters and copybooks.
In 2020, MoMu digitised 20 volumes from the MoMu and Heemkundige kring Jan Vleminck archives via Transkribus, a Handwritten Text Recognition application. This has provided public access to over 20,000 entries of historically significant commercial correspondence.
As well as exploring the archive, we invite you to join us behind the scenes to enhance the transcriptions. Look for entries marked as UNREVIEWED and become a part of preserving history.
